About Us

Before The Cultivated Canine was created, Terri P Tepper bred Border Terriers as Flint Creek Border Terriers. She paid particular attention to clicker training the puppies starting at 6 weeks. When they left for their new homes at 10 weeks, the pups walked on a leash, settled on a mat, and gave their new owners eye contact. On puppy pickup day, the new owners were introduced to clicker training.
Terri has a BS in Education and a BA in Photography. After retiring from teaching, she specialized in on location family environmental portraits. Pets, especially dogs, were almost always an integral part of the family portraits.
Working in people's homes is a theme throughout Terri's life. She co-authored the book, The New Entrepreneurs: Women Working From Home, traversing the United States interviewing and photographing women in their homes. Those portraits many times included dogs.
Dogs have always been important to Terri. She has participated in conformation, obedience, agility, and freestyle.

When she attended the first Clicker Expo in Chicago in 2003, her passion turned to gentle training through Clicker Training. The Karen Pryor Academy opened its doors June 2007, and Terri jumped at the chance to dedicate herself to clicker training.

Among the first graduating class to be certified, her life turned full circle, and she has returned to teaching once again in her favorite environment- peoples' homes. It is here she feels she can make the biggest impact in helping to successfully integrate the dog into family life.
